Mazhar is a UK qualified chartered accountant with over 27 years of leadership positions in international banking and finance.
He spent 18 years with Citigroup in various senior roles in the EMEA Region (Europe, Middle East & Africa) starting with 10 years with at Saudi American Bank (an affiliate of Citigroup) in Riyadh, six years of which he was the Chief Financial Officer. Mazhar then worked in the Central Eastern Europe, Middle East, South Asia and Africa (CEEMEA) Group’s Regional Financial Control function based in London, overseeing the finance functions in the Middle East and Indian sub-continent.
He then joined Citigroup’s proprietary EMEA Region M&A Group in London as the Senior M&A transactor covering both acquisitions and divestitures. Since leaving Citigroup, Mazhar has acted as a consultant providing finance and M&A related services to banks and other clients in the EMEA region.
More recently he has been Chief Strategist for a London-based Italian family office acquiring distressed real estate assets and, for past two years has been the Director of one of the world’s leading Laboratory Grown Diamond businesses based in Singapore.
